jeff weems for railroad commissioner news story 01.25.10 a former liberty resident who works in the oil and gas industry is touting his friend, jeff weems, for texas railroad commissioner. michael leonard grew up in liberty before graduating from lhs back in 1972 and moving to austin to attend university of texas. his parents are jeann and joe leonard of liberty. joe served as liberty isd superintendent during the 1970s and early ‘80s. now, MICHAEL leonard is the director of international business development for an OIL and gas services firm called the wood group. that company has its u.s. corporate office in houston. according to michael leonard, jeff weems has a life-long understanding of the oil and gas industry, and the democrat candidate also has his support. "audio" the candidate - Jeff weems – is the only democrat candidate for texas railroad commissioner. he grew up in louisiana before moving to houston during high school. He attended rice university and graduated with honors from university of texas at austin with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum ENGINEERING. after working as a landman for several years, the candidate for railroad commissioner earned his law degree from university of texas school of law, again graduating with honors. during the ensuing years, jeff weems has practiced law and is now a partner at harrison, bettis, staff, macfarland, and weems, llp. his practice involves the representation of operating companies, energy service companies, as well as royalty and land owners. jeff weems is a member of the national ASSOCIATION of royalty owners, american petroleum INSTITUTE, and on the board for INSTITUTE of energy law. he lives in houston with his wife, dinah, and five children. now, jeff weems is running for texas railroad commissioner. the democrat candidate has the support of his friend and COLLEAGUE – michael leonard who grew up here in liberty and now works as the director of INTERNATIONAL development |
